Ermine, also known as a stoat and weasel is a small mammal that lives in the northern hemisphere.
They are found throughout North America and Eurasia. Ermine can be easily mistaken for other animals such as raccoons or skunks because of their dark brown fur with white spots.
Weasels have long slender bodies, short legs, and large heads with protruding ears which they use to listen for prey in the snow. These little carnivores will eat anything from birds to insects but prefer mice and voles when possible.
You may spot ermines near streams or rivers where they like to playfully hunt frogs just below the surface of the water!
