The European Water Vole is a small, brown and white rodent that is found throughout much of Europe. They are aquatic creatures, meaning they live near water and make their homes in riverbanks and wetlands. They are also known as the water rat or the field mouse.
European Water Voles are very social animals and live in colonies of up to 30 individuals. They are active during the day and night, and feed mainly on plants, insects, and other small animals. They build their nests out of grasses, twigs, and leaves, and can swim and dive well.
