The Harlequin Duck is a small, brightly coloured duck that is found in North America and parts of Europe. They are about 12 inches long and have a black head, white body and black and white wings. They live near ponds, lakes and slow moving rivers, where they eat insects and plants.
These ducks are very good swimmers and can dive down to depths of over 60 feet to find food. They are also able to walk on land, and sometimes nest on the ground. Harlequin Ducks are very interesting birds to watch and their beautiful colours make them a favourite with bird watchers.
