Ulex gallii, more commonly known as Western Gorse, is an evergreen shrub that can be found in the wild throughout western and central Europe. It has characteristic yellow flowers which bloom from late winter to early spring. The plant's leaves are narrow and pointed, and its branches grow in a dense, upright manner.

Western Gorse is a popular source of food for wildlife, and its flowers are often visited by bees. It grows well in areas that are exposed to the sun, and can be found on hillsides and in open woodland habitats. Its foliage is often used as a Christmas decoration.

The best time to see Western Gorse in bloom is between February and April. It is a beautiful sight, and well worth taking the time to visit a location where it can be found in the wild.
