A Flatback Sea Turtle is a sea turtle that lives in the Pacific Ocean. They are a beautiful sight to see, with their dark green and light yellow colouring. Flatback Sea Turtles get their name from their flat shell, which is unique among sea turtles.
Flatback Sea Turtles are gentle giants, reaching up to 2 meters in length and weighing up to 180 kg. They spend most of their lives in the open ocean, but come ashore to lay eggs. Flatback Sea Turtle hatchlings are also unique, as they are some of the only sea turtles that can swim right after hatching.
Flatback Sea Turtles are currently listed as a vulnerable species due to egg poaching and loss of habitat. However, with proper protection, these amazing creatures can continue to thrive for generations to come.
